Privacy Policy

SideKitchen ("SideKitchen," "we," "our," or "us") is a mobile recipe app that helps users decide what to cook based on ingredients they already have. This Privacy Policy explains what information SideKitchen collects, how it is used, and what choices you have.

Information We Do Not Collect

SideKitchen does not require you to create an account. SideKitchen does not ask for your name, address, phone number, payment information, precise location, contacts, photos, camera access, microphone access, or health information. SideKitchen does not sell your personal information.

Information Stored Locally on Your Device

SideKitchen may store the following information locally on your device:

• ingredients you add to your bowl
• saved favorite recipes
• shopping list items
• recipe search cache data
• app preferences or feature flags

This information is stored on your device using local app storage. It is used to make the app work, remember your choices, and improve your experience. This local app data is not used to identify you personally.

You can delete local app data using the in-app Settings > Reset app data option. You can also delete it by clearing the app's storage through your device settings or uninstalling the app.

Recipe Images and Remote Content

SideKitchen loads recipe images over encrypted HTTPS connections. The current Android release uses images hosted by Supabase, Pexels, and Flickr. When an image loads, its host receives technical information including your IP address, the requested image, request time, and browser or app networking information. Image requests can indicate which recipe content was displayed.

Our Supabase image service retains request logs containing IP-address headers, image paths, response status, and timing information. These logs support content delivery, operation, troubleshooting, and protection of the image service. They do not contain your locally stored shopping list or favorites database.

Pexels and Flickr also process image requests under their own privacy policies. Those policies describe automatic request logging; Pexels also describes location inferred from IP addresses. Image providers may also use request information to monitor and improve their services. SideKitchen does not request GPS or device-location permissions. Website and Email Contact

If you visit sidekitchenapp.com, standard website hosting logs may be processed by the website hosting provider. If you contact us by email, we will receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address and message. We use that information to respond to your request.

Advertising and Analytics

SideKitchen does not currently display ads, use an advertising ID, or include an analytics SDK. The hosting request logs described above are separate from locally stored app data. If advertising, analytics SDKs, or premium features are added, this policy will be updated to describe the resulting data practices and choices.

Shopping List and Favorites

Shopping list items and favorite recipes are stored locally on your device. SideKitchen does not currently sync your shopping list or favorites to a cloud account.

Children's Privacy

SideKitchen is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

Food, Nutrition, and Allergy Notice

SideKitchen provides recipe suggestions for general cooking purposes. SideKitchen is not a medical, nutrition, allergy, or dietary advice service. You are responsible for checking ingredients, allergens, food safety, and dietary suitability before preparing or eating any recipe.

Data Security

We use reasonable measures to protect the app and website. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. Because most SideKitchen app data is stored locally on your device, protecting access to your device also helps protect your app data.

Data Retention and Deletion

Local app data remains on your device until you delete it using Settings > Reset app data, clear app storage, or uninstall the app. Emails you send to us may be retained as needed to respond to your request, maintain records, or comply with legal obligations.

Resetting or uninstalling the app does not immediately delete previously recorded hosting logs. Our current Supabase Pro plan provides seven-day dashboard log retention. We have not configured a log drain to forward those logs to another destination. This period does not describe all provider security records or the independent retention practices of Pexels and Flickr, which are governed by their own policies. Contact us with privacy or deletion questions; we cannot promise immediate removal from independently operated provider logs.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above.
